The Office of Accessible Education (OAE) is committed to protecting the confidentiality of student records to the extent consistent with state and federal law. Confidentiality is maintained to protect the student’s privacy and to avoid discrimination. With that in mind, OAE works closely with campus partners such as instructors, chairs, deans, the Office of Student Life (OSL), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Drahmann Advising Center, Office of the Registrar, Campus Safety, and more to support and create access for students and when necessary may need to share information to appropriate campus partners.

Disability-related information will be shared on a need-to-know basis and only when there are compelling reasons for such disclosure. For example, this may mean sharing only that a student has a documented disability and need for accommodation(s), or it may mean sharing pertinent information from the student’s file, as the situation dictates.
